In Hong Kong, the design and construction of private developments is subject to control under the Buildings Ordinance. In the approval of plans, GFA may be disregarded or exempted under the Buildings Ordinance and its allied regulations. Bonus GFA may also be granted in return for areas within private developments dedicated for public passage or surrendered for street widening.
To enhance transparency, the information on GFA concessions in private developments completed after August 2010 is now published on BD's website. The information includes estimated energy performance / consumption, results of assessment under BEAM Plus certification and greenery areas of the developments where applicable.
