Seventeen building plans approved in May

The Buildings Department approved 17 building plans in May, with four on Hong Kong Island, four in Kowloon and nine in the New Territories.

Of the approved plans, eight were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, one was for commercial developments, one was for factory and industrial developments, and seven were for community services developments.

In the same month, consent was given for works to start on nine building projects which, when completed, will provide 3 745 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use involving 10 units, and 64 206 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of superstructure works for eight building projects.

The department also issued 21 occupation permits, with 11 on Hong Kong Island, six in Kowloon and four in the New Territories.

Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 200 900 sq m involving 3 679 units, and 124 723 sq m was for non-domestic use.

The declared cost of new buildings completed in May totalled about $10.9 billion.

In addition, nine demolition consents involving nine building structures were issued.

The department received 3 230 reports about unauthorised building works (UBWs) in May and issued 1 255 removal orders on UBWs.
