Since 2014, Buildings Department (BD) has carried out large scale operations (LSO) in selected target street sections over various districts in Hong Kong. When carrying out the LSOs, BD officers will issue statutory removal orders against the unauthorised signboards that have not yet joined the Signboard Validation Scheme (SVS) in order to urge the relevant owners to join the SVS as early as possible, as well as issue statutory removal orders or Dangerous Structure Removal Notices against those unauthorised signboards which are ineligible for the SVS or dangerous/abandoned, so as to eliminate the possible public safety risks.
