On the advice of Geotechnical Engineering Office of Civil
Engineering and Development Department, the Department issues orders requiring private property owners
to investigate and repair dangerous slopes under their responsibility. In default of the owners to comply
with the orders, the Department will carry out the required works on their
behalf and recover the costs from the owners afterwards. Besides, the
Department may prosecute the owners who fail to comply with the orders without
reasonable excuse.
In cases of emergency, the Department will carry out the necessary remedial
works and then recover the costs of the works from the owners.
